Girltalk

Girltalk develops relationships and builds a sisterhood when girls need them most: middle school, through weekly meetings where girls can share their hopes, dreams, and struggles while learning how to support each other and resolve conflict in healthy ways.

Girltalk - What, Why, and How

Why

All teenage girls…

  • need a space where they can share feelings, fears, hopes, and dreams.

  • need a safe space to resolve conflict, ask for help, and make friendships.

  • deserve a chance to build a sisterhood and community on their campus with a group of their peers.

  • deserve a club on campus that welcomes them without requiring money or skill.

What

Girltalk is a club designed for 20-30 members that meets weekly on a school campus. A potential sponsor may want to follow the outline below. Each campus, community, and group of girls is unique so change/add/delete based on your own needs/abilities.

  2. Advertise and disperse Girltalk Applications (digital or paper handout)

  3. Collect applications and schedule informational meeting

  4. At the informational meeting, explain the norms of girltalk and emphasize the importance of sisterhood. Disperse pledge ribbons

  5. One week later, invite  new members to sign a poster or canvas. Anything to solidify their membership.
